This website contains information and downloads for the CATTLE Mobile Solutions, developed by HiQSoft Inc. and EIDAP Inc. The mobile hardware for these solutions is the Psion Workabout Pro. The software is based on the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0

OVERVIEW

The Cattle Mobile Solutions require a Windows PC or laptop, a Psion Workabout Pro mobile unit, an RFID reader head and connectivity between the PC and the mobile unit. The required software components depend on the PC operating system:

Windows 2000:

Windows XP:

Windows Vista:

The required downloads depend on what is already installed on the PC, and can be found on this page.

On some PCs additional Windows updates may be required, provided in the supporting software section below.

CATTLE EXPORT MOBILE

The following mobile operating systems are supported: Windows Mobile 2003, Windows Mobile 5 and 6, CE.NET 4.2 and 5.0.

The contents of the provided ZIP file should be extracted and copied into a folder \Program Files\Cattle_Export on the Psion Workabout Pro. Then run the cattle_export program from that location using the File Explorer on the device. On Windows CE you can also create a shortcut to the device desktop.

    This Cattle Export application uses the Agrident AIR200 reader head on the Workabout Pro G1 and G2.

    This Cattle Export application uses the Syscan Bluetooth reader on the Workabout Pro G1 and G2.


Scan Buttons: To use the scan buttons you need to add scancode remappings: Go to the Control Panel/Settings - Keyboard - Scancode Remapping, then add "Normal" "Virtual Keys" with "No force"
  On the Workabout Pro G1, map "ScannerOn" 0x0006 to F23, and "ScannerOn" 0x001 to F24.
  On the Workabout Pro G2, map "Trigger" 0x0038 to F23, and "Trigger" 0x0039 to F24.
You can then use the scan buttons to activate the RFID scanning in the Cattle Export program.


.NET Framework: On older Workabout Pro devices (Generation 1) the .NET Compact Framework 2.0 is not pre-installed. You can install it by using the download below.

    Download and save the CAB file to disk first, copy the CAB file to the device and run it on the device to install it.

CATTLE AGE VERIFICATION MOBILE

The contents of the provided ZIP file should be installed into a folder \Program Files\Age_Verification on the Psion Workabout Pro reader.

    The Cattle Age Verification application uses the Agrident reader head on the Workabout Pro G1 and G2.
    It also supports using a GPS unit via Bluetooth (COM7) using the NMEA0193 protocol.

    It includes the forms HA2184, HA2183 and HA1941.

  2. Microsoft Report Viewer 2005 (1.8 MB)
    You may need to install this component to view and print the reports in the CATTLE PC Desktop application.

SUPPORTING PC SOFTWARE
  1. Camtech UnZipMe utility (1.2 MB) (download)
    UnZipMe is a free, simple to use utility for extracting files from .zip (compressed) files. After installation of UnZipMe, run it from the desktop, then select the downloaded ZIP file to extract the contents.

  2. Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (22 MB, for Win2000/XP)
    The Cattle PC Desktop requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, if the PC does not have that yet you can download it directly from Microsoft. On the Microsoft page, click the [Download] button.

  3. MDAC 2.8 (6 MB, for Win2000/XP)
    Updated Microsoft MDAC database drivers - may be required by the Desktop setup. Use this link if the automated Microsoft download/setup fails.

  4. Psion USB Drivers Setup Utility (Windows 2000 and XP)
    With these USB drivers Windows 2000 and XP will be able to recognize USB connected Psion devices.

  5. Psion USB Drivers Setup Utility (Windows Vista)
    With these USB drivers Windows Vista should be able to recognize USB connected Psion devices. There are some known issues with Vista USB Mobile connectivity, but it works fine for most systems.

  6. Microsoft Active Sync 4.2 (Windows 2000/XP)
    Active Sync is a Windows System tray application which connects to your Mobile Device and offers file access and synchronization when the device is connected.

  7. Microsoft Active Sync 4.5 (Windows XP)
    Active Sync is a Windows System tray application which connects to your Mobile Device and offers file access and synchronization when the device is connected.

    On Windows Vista the Active Sync is not required, the Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) and Sync Center are used instead.
    Psion advises to update it to version 6.1
